The Historic Gerhart Repurposed barn frame was reassembled by OVBS in Edmund Oklahoma for Bruce & Susan Barkocy. This frame circa late 1830's measures 40'x50'. The 4 primary bents had tie beams that measured 10''x15''x38'. This barn frame also had a very rare 50' 5 sided walnut ridge. OVBS team dismantled the frame in June 2018. This frame was missing (1) complete tie beam and 5 primary 12''x12'' upright post had to be replicated. This work was completed in August and the frame shipped in October 2018. After a few weather-related site delays the foundation was in place for the repurposed barn frame. The complete reassembly went perfect with bent sections carefully being raised into place. When the main lower frame was locked in with the low tie beams it was a perfect 40' wide x50', the same as it was built 190 years ago. The mid rafter bracing went smooth, followed by the placing of the 50' ridge beam that set 26'0'' off the finished floor. OVBS reused all the existing sycamore pole rafters that were secured in place with the original wood pegs. We had an Oklahoma ''Indian Summer'' as it was sunny for 8 straight days. Bruce and Susan Barkocy will enjoy finishing out this fantastic barn frame thru out the winter. Another successful project for Ohio Valley Barn Salvage is in the books.
