In the fall of 2019 our team completed the reassembly of the historic Bluffton frame circa 1855 for Terry & Denise Allen in Lexington Kentucky. The Allen’s purchased the historic frame in August 2019 and OVBS started the dismantling process on September 7th. The Bluffton frame measured 46'x80'. The Allen’s bought the entire barn frame and under carriage timbers. There were over 50 beams in the basement alone with 5 carrier beams that were 10''x12''x 64' in length. The frame was carefully dismantled and tagged thru the month of September. We shipped the frame to Lexington Kentucky on September 29th. The Allen’s already had an existing foundation in place that measured 44' x63' The OVBS removed (1) 17' bay from the barn and carefully matched the timbers back together for a perfect fit to the foundation. Our team also saved all the 155 years pole rafters and carefully reassembled them back in place. The reassembly project with the undercarriage timbers took about 3 1/2 weeks to complete. The barn frame looks just as good as the master barn builders had completed 155 years ago. Terry & Denise will have many good years ahead to enjoy this historic Ohio barn.
