In August 2025, the OVBS team traveled to Andover, Connecticut to assemble the historic Mike Barr barn frame, a 36’ x 50’ structure dating back to the 1860s. The frame was carefully dismantled at the owner’s request after the family farm near Canal Winchester, Ohio was sold to developers in October 2024. OVBS completed the restoration and necessary alterations at our facility in Sycamore, Ohio before transporting the frame to its new home. Mike Barr selected a local contractor to install foundation pilings, which are common for the region. The frame arrived on site mid-morning, was promptly unloaded, and assembly of the bent sections began immediately. By the end of day one, two bents were raised and secured. By the close of day two, all bents were in place and the low rafter plate was fully installed. On day three, the OVBS team completed the installation of the mid-rafter plates and set the original 2” x 6” saw-cut rafters. Final roof sheathing and siding installation was completed by the general contractor using locally sourced materials. Mike Barr and his general contractor provided outstanding hospitality during the project, including a memorable steak dinner. This project represents another historic Ohio barn frame successfully preserved and brought back to life by OVBS.
