In August of 2022, the OVBS team flew to the State of Washington and drove to our build site near Carlton, WA. The Historic Shelby frame circa 1864, was shipped to Carlton in May of 2021 after being dismantled in August of 2020 with repairs being made in the early spring of 2021. Covid and construction delays pushed the project back 1 year. However, in that downtime the owner was able to select all interior finishes which included 4000 sq. ft. of naily 1''roof sheathing, 3500 sq. ft. of 1'' hemlock siding, 1000 sq. ft. of 2'' white oak threshing floorboard, 900 sq. ft. of rustic corrugated tin and 1000 sq. ft. of 1'' white oak boarding. Carlton is located on the drier eastern side of the Cascades and temperatures for our 9 days adventure ranged from 92 degrees to 102 degrees. with NO humidity!!!!! We immediately went to work and had the primary frame set at the end of day 1 and day 2 we installed all the roof rafters. Days 3 and 4 we installed 3600 sq. ft. of naily roof sheathing. Days 5 and 6 we installed 1'' thick insulation board followed by 1/2'' plywood. Days 7 and 8 we wrapped up by installing ice and water guard and installed the large lofts beam. We finished day 9 by installing the original hay rail and triple forks and the remainder of the day catching up on all the punch out items and general clean up. A great time was had by all and the owners Doug & Sue were amazing hosts. Another great Ohio frame save by OVBS!
