In June 2025, the OVBS team traveled to Pound Ridge, New York to assemble the historic Webb/Miller barn frame, originally built in the 1830s. The 30’ x 40’ frame features impressive 10” x 10” hand-hewn beech timbers and beautifully preserved original pole rafters. To accommodate the new owner’s vision, the frame was thoughtfully modified while maintaining its historic integrity. Grant Webb, the buyer, coordinated the foundation installation with a local contractor prior to the frame’s arrival. Once on site, the OVBS team delivered the timbers and immediately began assembly of the bent sections. Within two days, the bents were raised and secured using 10” x 12” low rafter plates. On day three, the team installed the mid-rafter plates followed by the original pole rafters. The original 30’ x 17’ loft was reinstalled on one side of the barn, with an additional 10’ x 30’ loft added to the opposite end. Reclaimed hemlock siding was selected for both the roof and wall sheathing and was promptly protected with TigerPaw synthetic felt. The entire frame assembly was completed in just six days. Grant Webb and his son, Cole, were outstanding clients, and the OVBS team appreciated their hospitality, including an evening picnic and the opportunity to enjoy local restaurants. It was a rewarding project and a memorable experience for everyone involved.
